Madison woman is in police custody and tentatively charged in the death of her 6-month-old daughter. The baby died on Saturday after she was removed from life support. Police subsequently arrested her mother, Patrice Smith, on suspicion of reckless homicide. Family members said that the girl was placed on life support after a choking incident on Oct. 2, WISC-TV reported. Unidentified sources told WISC-TV that the baby had a sock stuffed in her mouth and stopped breathing. Detectives are keeping very tight lipped about this investigation. Smith is in the Dane County Jail and is awaiting formal charges, authorities said. The child's paternal grandmother, Tracy Miller, said that the family is very distraught and they want justice to be served in this case. Smith is expected to be formally charged in court later this week, WISC-TV reported.

Why !
I am a single parent of one beautiful daughter and the last thing on my mind would be to cause harm to her ,especially at an early age of 6 mos. The news release on Monday stated that an African American young lady has been arrested for the death of her only daughter.
