GOT TO BE MORE

STEVENS POINT, Wis. -- About 115 University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point students store weapons such as guns, knives, and bows and arrows on campus at a secure site controlled by campus police. With deer hunting season this week, wildlife
assistant professor Bob Holsman said the school's system should serve as a model for any university. The students' weapons are stored in a room called the armory at the campus police station. Each student registers his or her weapon and gets a lock. Students present their keys and identification cards to access their weapons. UW-Stevens Point Police Chief Bill Rowe said that, once the weapon is checked out, a student must immediately leave the campus. The police station is on the edge of campus adjacent to a public street. The campus police chief said that, although students aren't evaluated for psychological fitness, he's comfortable with the registration procedure because students who come to the Police Department already are exhibiting strong signs of responsibility.Student firearm storage is also available at UW System campuses in Madison, Milwaukee, Eau Claire, La Crosse and Superior, but officials said the site at Stevens Point is by far the most heavily used.

I think this is a terrible idea ,not safe at all .

NEVER MISTAKE YOUR CHILD FOR A BUCK

NEENAH, Wis. -- There was a tragic twist to the opening weekend of the gun deer season in Wisconsin. A conservation warden said that a grandfather fatally shot his 18-year-old grandson while hunting in Waushara County on Sunday. Sheriff's deputies said that David Ruck was shot in the upper leg and inner groin. Authorities responded to a report about 8:40 a.m. that a hunter had been shot on private property in the Town of Saxeville in the northwestern part of Waushara County. The shooter told investigators that he mistook Ruck for a deer. The fatality marks the first reported shooting mishap of the nine-day gun deer season. The Sheriff's Department and state Department of Natural Resources are investigating.
My opinion of this is we got to be more careful. How can you make such a tragic mistake I understand that mistakes can and will happen. So lighten up caffeine and have a SAFE DEER HUNTING SEASON.
